What is lip blush?
Lip blush is a form of semi permanent cosmetic tattooing thats purpose is to enhance the lips natural tint and shape, giving them a boost in color and fullness. The way that this is done is by implanting your choice of color throughout the lip and lip line. This treatment not only leaves the lips with a beautiful shape and tint, it also stimulates the collagen giving the lips a more plump appearance..
How long will it last?
Lip blush will usually last 1-3 years depending on the following factors;
The client's lifestyle
Avoiding products that lighten the skin
The clients long term after care.
Making sure that the lips stay hydrated and free from chapped skin will lengthen the time that your lip blush will last. If the lips are constantly dry and peeling then eventually they will start to fade.
Healing Process for lip blush
Immediately after the lip blush procedure is done you can expect the lips to be swollen. Swelling varies for everyone and usually last for about 24-48 hours. The lip blush takes about 5-10 days to complete the initial peeling process. The color will go through some changes in color and evenness while it is healing. Keeping the lips hydrated at all times will not only help the color heal beautifully, it will also speed up the healing process. Its very important for you to thoroughly explain the healing process and after care with your client so they know what to expect and how to properly care for it to achieve optimal results. Here is an example of the healing process;
Days 1-3: The lips will be swollen for about 24-48 hours after the procedure. The color will be dark during this stage due to be freshly done. Depending on the client, they may also have some redness and slight bruising around the lips.
Days 4-10: The lips will be chapped and peeling. It will appear that the color underneath is light at first but it will only remain that way temporarily until the lips are fully healed. It is extremely important that the peeling skin isnt pulled at or peeled. Doing this could result in loss of pigment. It is also very important to keep the lips very hydrated during AND after the healing process.
After the peeling process you may still see the lips gradually richen in color as the skin on the lips gain their thickness back.
A touch up could be done at about 8 weeks if it is needed. You should educate your client about the possibility of a touch up.
When the touch up is done you and your client can expect to go through the same healing process as the first session. In some cases if the touch up is only a minor one then it will not scab as severely.
Here is an example of what the scabbing process could look like.
Results can vary per person depending on how the individual heals.
